Forecasts for the Future: Trends and Forecasts of Inbound Tourism Development in RussiaSo far, it might be difficult to forecast how inbound tourism will develop in Russia. On one hand, there are numerous internal and external factors acting as hindrances to the development of the sector. On the other hand, tourism remains an attractive sector of the Russian economy considering the growing number of citizens willing to explore their country and the advancement of digital services supporting this exploration. Furthermore, Dementiev and Andreev (2023) in their article point out that “the positive dynamics of entry flows to Russia was observed from neighboring states, the CIS countries and a number of states of foreign Asia” (p. 56). The number of these entries will continue to increase with the development of tourist infrastructure and the promotion of new tourist destinations.ConclusionIn summary, a repertoire of internal and external factors impacted the development of inbound tourism in Russia which witnessed a considerable decline in the number of inbound tourist trips in the period from 2014 to 2023. However, several steps were taken to attract tourists and facilitate the development of this promising sector of the economy. These steps include, but were not limited to, the development of online services, changing the political focus to neighboring countries, and improving infrastructure.
